Nintendo has announced a major change affecting users. The company will soon stop supporting foreign credit cards and PayPal accounts for Japan E-Shop payments. This change will take effect on March 25, 2025.
According to Nintendo, the decision was made to help prevent fraud. Moving forward, users will need to use alternative payment methods, such as credit cards issued in Japan. The company also apologized for any inconvenience this may cause.
As an alternative, users can purchase Japan-specific digital vouchers or gift cards. However, these options only come in fixed amounts, which may not match the exact payment needed. Nintendo confirmed that no other updates are planned for the Japanese eShop. Additionally, there have been no similar announcements regarding other regions at this time.
